Resume Tricks

One page, your one chance to sell yourself.

Perth recruiter Maggie Mayer reads more than 2000 resumes a year and says most are lacking. According to Maggie there are ways to make your resume stand out from the rest.

Firstly Maggie suggests using bold headings and the correct font, "a good one to use is Arial or san serif 11 another thing is bullet points use bold headings to make to stand out."

Next, make your resume long enough to tell your story, but short enough to skim in a single sitting.

Avoid too much information- your marital status, religion and political views are irrelevant.

And don't include links to your personal Facebook page, or include photos.

Tailor your resume to the employer.

Always triple check you're spelling and punctuation.

Finally, it may sound silly but many forget to provide contact details.
