Nate's Mates

At just 5 years old, little Nate is a fighter.

For Mum and dad it's been a rollercoaster, their little boy battling Leukaemia, a deadly infection, and then another blow that broke their hearts.

Nate lost his leg after contracting an infection in his knee. His parents Novak and Monique were told to prepare for the worst, "we didn't want Nate to spend that time in hospital so we made the decision to bring him home."

A huge Richmond fan - the family were blown away, when his favourite footy player decided to help him celebrate his 5th birthday.

His favourite player and hero, Jake King taking the little tiger to meet the team.

Against the odds Nate stunned everyone when he went into remission from his cancer. Now Nate needs a prosthetic leg and carbon fibre foot to keep up with his mates and kick a footy like his idol from Richmond.

He's an everyday hero and now the captain of his own team.

Nate's mates are the kids from Whitford Catholic Primary, training twice a week to raise funds for the family all running for a reason

He's a brave boy who's going places, one step at a time.
