Perth entrepreneur Katrina McCarter is carving out a successful niche in the competitive industry of online group buying sites with her family focused deals website, offers family focused deals to subscribers with discounts ranging from 40 - 80% through a free weekly newsletter. Five per cent of every sale is donated to an approved playgroup, kindergarten or primary school nominated by the customer.

Bubbler has quickly established a following amongst Mums and families in Perth - so much so that Bubbler is launching nationally on 13 August. Katrina says "I always intended for Bubbler to be a national business but I wanted to launch in the WA market initially to refine the business. I'm getting subscribers from around Australia looking for family focused deals that they can't get through the main deal sites. There is a gap in the market for a niche site like Bubbler because we tap into the huge growth in small and online businesses started by other Mum's like me who are looking to grow their business and reach new customers with products that appeal to families."

Bubbler is a small niche player in the group buying market which is dominated by the top eight sites including Groupon, Scoopon, Living Social, Spreets, Cudo,, Ourdeal and Ouffer. According to research by technology analyst firm Telsyte2, Australia's group buying market is expected to exceed $600 million in calendar year 2012 and continue towards a $1 billion industry by 2016. Telsyte Senior Research Manager Sam Yip says, "There is a need for better customer segmentation as the industry matures and deal targeting will be critical to the continual growth of the industry."

Launched in January 2012 after six months of development, Katrina was one of the first to recognise the gap in the market for deals relevant to families. Bigger businesses are now playing catch up with online shopping site, Catch of the Day launching in July 2012, targeting Mums and the family market which they value at $20 billion dollars.
