Sam Astbury won the Suntory Cup – Australia's Premiere National Cocktail Championship with his irresistible cocktail SAMURAI.

Jared Plummer won the Grand Marnier Trophy 2004 – this was the first year that a WA has been represented in this competition and it was Jared's creation, the GRAND CUBAN that most impressed at the national competition.


The Shining Lights Awards are Australia's newest wine industry awards, organised by Australian Wine Selectors Magazine. Ferngrove Vineyard Estate's Winemaker Kim Horton won the Young Winemaker of the Year Award, for exceptional winemaking ability.

The Shining Light awards cover every facet of the wine industry and predict those people who will be the Shining Lights of 2005, and they aim to showcase the most passionate performers in the wine industry. 2005 is the inaugural year of the competition.

The Frankland River winery, located approximately 360km south of Perth in Western Australia, was established in 1997 by local dairy farmer Murray Burton and has quickly gained a reputation for premium cool climate wines.

In the 2004 National Wine Show Circuit, seven wines from two vintages received a total of 11 gold medals including the trophy for the Best Western Australian Dry Table Red Wine at the Royal Perth Wine Show.
